WearMoi 206 - wide waist

A European import, WearMoi was started in 1992 by a husband/wife team - both former professional dancers.

The wide waistband WearMoi comes in both a 3” or 5" "soft touch" uncovered elastic full circumference waistband and a stretchable thong.  The 5 is best for partnering and performance.  Its waistband provides lumbar support and hides any extra poundage that might show under a short tunic.  The 5 model is somewhat difficult to find: not sold by several online retailers, but WearMois store stocks them.

Wearing tights without a shirt and don't want your dance belt to show?  Then the WearMoi narrow waistband is a good alternative.  Like its wide waist cousin, it's designed to hide and make you look good in tights.  The 1½" "full circumference waistband doesn't provide any back support, so choose a wide waistband model if you're doing partner lifts.  The manufacturers seem to be listening to their customers, making several recent tweeks to improve comfort.

WearMoi's pouch features a substantial foam cup middle layer that smooths out anatomical detail and provides minor impact protection.  It creates an idealized 'Ken Doll' large round mound look in tights.

Online retailer boysdancetoo advertises that WearMoi is "The best dance belt available.  The wide elastic band is outrageously soft. The cup has a soft interlining padding that provides support, comfort and a good look under tights.  The thong is thin, flexible and as comfortable as a men’s thong can get.”

Part 2 of Asher Taylor-Dawson’s review of the WearMoi

Here is what others have said in online store reviews:
“PDXdance", a professional dancer says it’s better than others:     I'm still on the fence about the fit of this particular dance belt - it definitely sits low on the waist, but that can give some unflattering lines under tights/unitards etc. The elastic is also quite stretchy compared to others, so I'm curious to see how long it will hold up. It is quite comfortable when everything is in place, but it doesn't offer much coverage so it can take time to get things situated.  The padding in the front does a MUCH better job than the M.Stevens does of disguising what it needs to - and I feel that that is important.

Dora tried several brands getting her son into his first thong:     My 11 year old son was miserable when his [thankfully male] dance teacher told him, it was time to switch from a “full-seat” to a "thong" dance belt… He was in tears when he first tried one on because it was so uncomfortable. He couldn't get through his 1.5 hour class wearing one, so he had to change back into his old dance belt half-way through.  I bought him every style dance belt the site offers in hopes of finding one that would be okay… Unfortunately, there’s no "magic bullet" - you just have to get used to wearing it… After two weeks, I am happy to say my son has totally gotten used to wearing his dance belt and sometimes even forgets to take it off after class!!! [Best advice: don’t try to avoid the inevitable…Put the thong in your butt to start, because it’s gonna end up there anyway, and that way you can position it where it fits best] He wears all of the belts - none of them fit badly - but says this style is his favorite.

Stuart prononces it:     Best Dance belt I've ever owned
I've been wearing dance belts for 37 years (not continuously) and this is the most comfortable I have ever had.   I'm 5'11 and a muscular 190. The XL size (which looks huge) is a great fit.  Snug enough to keep everything where is should be but not so tight that you feel strangled or "flossed".   A winner.

After being away from dance, Matthew found that dance belt comfort has improved:     This is by far the most comfortable dance belt I've ever put on. That being said I'm only just getting back into dance and movement after several years of absence so most of my experience is circa 2008, so I'm not sure if this reflects progress in the field but all caveats aside an excellent product.

Jorge says:     Tight without the discomfort
Great belt…

tight in front,  without digging in back.
